About Cllr Elaine Still
Here is a little back ground on first being elected as a Basingstoke & Deane Borough Councillor.
I was first elected in 2002 to represent the residents of the Chineham ward.
In 2006, I was honoured to be invited to join the cabinet when we took control of the administration from the lib/lab coalition.
I was given the portfolio for the Environment and in that time, we successfully completed the tendering of the waste contract and negotiated shared services with Hart district council.
I also introduced kerbside glass collection from savings we made on the new waste contract by going into shared services with Hart. (The borough saved circa £1million from this initiative).
There was a change of leadership in 2012 after, which my portfolio was changed to Culture, communities, sport and leisure. During this period I was actively working on the regeneration of the Basingstoke leisure park.
I left the cabinet in 2013, and I continued to be an active councillor for the ward of Chineham and the Borough of Basingstoke.
In 2005, I was elected as councillor to Hampshire County Council (HCC) to represent the Loddon division, which comprises; Chineham, Sherfield Park, Lychpit, Old Basing, Mapledurwell, Up Nately, Newnham and Nately Scures.
I was first elected as the chairman for Culture and Communities for several years.... up until recently, where I am currently chairman of Policy and Resources. I also chair the Incinerator liaison panel, locally onsite.
In the past, I have been a commitee member of the following; Environment select committee and Health and overview scrutiny committee.
