Update on A33 closure - 16/09/2016
The A33 between Binfields Roundabout and The Crockford Lane Roundabout closed for several hours after the freak weather storm we experienced Thursday night / Friday morning caused severe flooding under the railway bridge.

Both Hampshire County Council (HCC) along with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (BDBC) acted swiftly to reopen the road in good time before rush hour traffic. I praise them for their swift action. The problem of flooding is due to the limited capacity of the balancing pond. The design and capacity of the Balancing Pond is being looked at as part of the upcoming programme for the Binfields/Crockford Roundabout schemes as a result of issues like this having already been fed into the design team. It is also worth noting that Thames Water have a role to play in the Balancing Pond as they have an outfall from it.
