Crockford Lane (Red Army) Roundabout and Great Binfields (Tesco) Roundabout
As I write this article HCC are currently out to tender for the major improvements work to be carried out on the Crockford Lane (Red Army) Roundabout and Great Binfields (Tesco) Roundabout.
Tenders are due in around early May allowing 4 weeks for tender evaluation and legal sign-off plus a 5 week mobilisation period so I would envisage the work to start in the summer if all goes to plan.
Many of you will remember the chaos that was caused along the Hanmore Road for several weeks, with people parking their cars to use the cut through to the Chineham business park. This was generated because Croudace the developer closed off the access road into the Chineham business park while laying sewage works.
I have had regular meetings with Highways Officers at HCC to express my concern that when the major improvement work starts on the Two roundabouts mentioned it’s very possible we may have more problems with cars parking along Hanmore Road and the school area.
HCC have agreed with me it’s important to have a traffic regulation order in place ahead of the works to prevent commuter parking, but to maintain school parking within restrict times.
This order can be amended or extended at any time once in place should it be necessary. The parish council will be consulted on the proposal that I have been working on with the officers.
